Introduction
ChineseSum (Lo Yuen Yan) was a widow and she brought up her four children all by herself. She had three sons, Kam (Wan Yeung Ming), Ngan (Lam Wai), Kwai (Louis Koo), and a daughter, Fu (Natalie Wong). Although the family was not rich, they were happy. Sum ran an entertainment center where people played mahjong together. People of a diverse background came and went everyday and added flavor to their lives.
Sum’s younger sister Lai married the rough and manly Fai (Leung Ka Yan). They lived close to Sum’s family and see each other very often. The two families were a lively portrait of the lives in Hong Kong today.
