Maria Rincon to Host Canada Day Drumming Virtual Celebration 2020
07/01/2020
Working on her master's degree at the prestigious Tsinghua University in China, 2016 Miss Chinese Vancouver Maria Rincon hasn’t been active as an event MC held in Canada for the past year. Since the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, she has returned to Canada to take online courses. An experienced MC proficient in multiple languages, Maria was invited to host the Canada Day Drumming Virtual Celebration 2020 at our 153rd birthday with all Canadian citizens. This virtual version, in which Fairchild provided technical support, received even more participations from the communities across the country. A visit to FTV again brought back a lot of fond memories to Maria, who kick-started the actions online at 10am in our studio. Various social media platforms were then flooded with marvellous performances brought forth by artistes from different cities. At 11am, residents from different provinces and territories drummed simultaneously for 6 minutes to celebrate Canada Day. The action was also a tribute to frontline healthcare workers who work tirelessly to help our country fight COVID-19.

BC Dairy Association to Support Community Through COVID-19
06/23/2020
As the fight against COVID-19 continues, BC dairy farmers not only ensure a continued supply of fresh, local produced dairy products for Canadians, but they also actively support local communities during this unprecedented time. BC Dairy Association recently donated $10,000 to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. to support its senior care services. BC Dairy Association is pleased to choose S.U.C.C.E.S.S as the beneficiary of their donation because both organizations regard "Love" as their most important core value, with a vision in helping the underprivileged and underserved communities as well as committing to build a tolerant, diversified and caring society. Queenie Choo, CEO of S.U.C.C.E.S.S., said that the donation will go towards senior care services and provide a higher quality of life as well as supporting other programs and services that are underfunded. At the same time, Jeremy Dunn, general manager of BC Dairy Association, expressed in interviews on “What’s On” and “Asian Magazine” programs that even though dairy product sales surged at some supermarkets, BC dairy farmers aren't lowering milk supply amid this global crisis, so the public doesn't have to worry about facing a shortage of dairy products. To find out more information about dairy products during the pandemic, please browse on bcdairyfarmers.ca.
Fairchild Group to Express Our Gratitude Towards Senior Care Workers
06/11/2020
Subsequent to the successful Better Together national fundraising project held earlier this year, Fairchild Group continues to show support to the community while the infection rate is slowing down and the country begins to ease its COVID-19 restrictions. Hosts of the newly launched program Snapshots, Manica Ng, Suiki Zhang, and Tingting Niu brought love and care to three senior care homes on behalf of Saint Germain Bakery operating under Fairchild Group. The three kind-hearted ladies visited Lynn Valley Care Centre, South Granville Park Lodge and Little Mountain Place, which were previously hit hard by the virus, with hundreds of healthy buns especially made for the frontline workers who have devoted all their efforts and risked their own lives to take care of their residents. Care workers from different departments welcomed us with open arms. Little Mountain Place also shared the buns with its other site, Adanac Park Lodge. Coincidentally, South Granville Park Lodge was preparing an appreciation party for its staff and our delicious buns arrived just in time! All three hosts felt honoured to have the opportunity to convey positivity, warmth, and confidence to the community as a goodwill ambassador.

A Special “2020 Chinese-Canadian Miracle Weekend Telethon”
06/01/2020
Despite the unprecedented challenges confronted by the 2020 Chinese-Canadian Miracle Weekend Telethon due to the sudden outbreak of COVID-19, the event concluded successfully last Saturday. As everyone was making a conscious effort to keep a physical distance from one another, this year’s telethon could only be filmed virtually.
Fairchild Television staff members and TV hosts showcased their professionalism while quickly adapting to the norm at the pandemic. MCs of the telethon, Ricky Cheung and Manica Ng, conducted online interviews with guests and shared recovery stories of young patients, delivering messages of sick children’s needs to the audience.
Program host Carmen Shao also appealed to audiences on Talentvision for their support and care to children suffering from serious illnesses, wishing everyone to lend a helping hand to create miracles together. In addition, established in 2010, members of the Young Ambassador Program filmed videos to encourage people to donate.
This global health crisis makes us realize profoundly that sufficient resources should always be secured to ensure high-quality daily care for sick children and at the same time be well-prepared for emergencies. Thanks to everyone’s overwhelming generosity throughout the telethon, the event raised a total of $923,000, which will go towards supporting the hospital’s urgent needs, providing high-quality medical equipment for the province’s youth, and funding for new research and techniques.
Stanley Ho Special
05/27/2020
Stanley Ho Special
Fairchild TV | May 31 | Sunday | 10:35pmThe legendary life of the Macau casino tycoon Stanley Ho Hung Sun came to an end at 1:00 pm on May 26th (HKT). Dr. Ho passed away at the age of 98. Dr. Stanley Ho had earned a great reputation and high social status in Macau and Hong Kong’s business field due to his remarkable contributions to the community.
Ho was born into the Hotung family, a very wealthy and influential family in British Hong Kong. However, that wealth was short-lived as his father Ho Sai Kwong went bankrupt and fled while he was only 13 years old, leaving him to take care of his mother. At the age of 21, the intelligent Ho had already made his first fortune and later seized the opportunity to acquire more wealth by setting up foreign-owned enterprise, petroleum companies, shipping companies and more. After Ho and his friend won the public tender for Macau's gaming monopoly license in the early 60s, they founded the Sociedade de Turismo e Diversões de Macau and opened Hotel Lisboa, building a successful business empire ranging from casinos and lotteries to greyhound-racing and horse-racing tracks.
Renowned for never accepting defeat, Ho once maintained that he relished challenges and would not take the answer 'no' easily. His success stemmed from his hard-work, charisma and endurance. To everyone, Ho was and forever will be their inspirational role model. A special program in memory of Stanley Ho will be broadcasted this Sunday. Stay tuned to Fairchild TV!

We Are All In This Together x Art Sharing - Nina Chai
05/12/2020
Hallelujah, Leonard Cohen's timeless song was the result of two years of intensive soul searching and painstakingly creative songwriting. As we tread through the crisis at hand, we often lend ourselves to both ends of the emotional spectrum. Now more than ever, Hallelujah speaks to our frustrated yearning of a vaccine to the internal suppression of our innate desire to socialize against universal social distancing measures. We hope to relieve your soul with our rendition of this classic number.

05/09/2020
Let’s forget about the busy work schedule and rediscover the joy of family life. Happiness is as simple as spending time playing music with your kids to celebrate Mother’s Day.
Mandy Jin: The pandemic has brought our frantic life to a screeching halt. Now I have more time to draw and play the piano with my daughter. Home on the Range is her favourite piano piece lately because it reminds her of the fun summertime having picnics on the beach. Although the infection rate is slowing down in B.C., we still need to stay vigilant. Please continue to support frontline workers. We shall get through this together!

05/05/2020
No matter how much an artistic mind is nourished by extreme imaginations, minimalistic beauty may be the most treasured element found in life.
Xin Wen: Coronavirus has brought out kindness in people but unfortunately with the loss of lives to our world. However, our inner power will only become stronger when we are making positive decisions on small changes. Those who are so busy commuting on a daily basis can finally enjoy cooking and learning with their loved ones and kids. Those who suffer from back pain due to incorrect prolonged posture can now work from home and take as many breaks as they need during a project. To many of us, life is more healthy and entertaining. Once you have developed a mindset and made the right choice during the pandemic, try to maintain it for the rest of your life.

Fairchild TV and Talentvision Cheer for Frontline Workers
04/07/2020
Within months the COVID-19 pandemic is rapidly spreading, affecting tens of thousands of people worldwide and causing an exponential rise of infected cases. During this nerve wracking time, frontline and medical workers are devoting all their efforts and risking their own lives to save others. Their selfless sacrifice deserves our nation's tribute. To show our gratitude, Fairchild TV and Talentvision family members uploaded photos with words of encouragement as a token of appreciation for these heroes' unconditional love.
Other than leaving messages to cheer them on, staying at home and practicing social distancing are the best ways to help! While people are stuck isolating at home, our program hosts filmed videos of themselves sharing fun at-home activities to uplift everyone's mood and bring some positive energy. A happy mind creates a happy soul. We can all do our part to put a stop to this ongoing crisis!

The Canadian Cancer Society Telethon Successfully Concluded
04/06/2020
While Canadians are struggling in the midst of the severe COVID-19 pandemic, the community is not hindered from showing the warmest care towards the vulnerable sectors. Co-produced by Fairchild TV and CCS, the Canadian Cancer Society Telethon successfully concluded last Saturday. Thanks to everyone’s overwhelming generosity, the event raised a total of $340,526 for cancer treatment enhancement and technology research. With this additional funding, CCS can provide more comprehensive support services for patients and their families. Program hosts William Ho and Suiki Zhang interviewed last year’s Camp Good Times participants and revealed details of the rehabilitation process for junior cancer survivors. In addition, medical professionals also updated the public on cancer prevention measures while CCS volunteers shared touching recovery journeys they went through with cancer survivors. As a cherry on top, viewers were educated on little interesting cancer prevention tips throughout the night.
Although the fundraising day has come to an end, the online donation platform is still open to the public. During the COVID-19 outbreak, everyone is playing their part to fight off this war but it might be easier said than done for cancer patients. Their compromised immune systems put them at a greater risk of more serious outcomes. On top of that, their rehabilitation process might be jeopardized as many treatments are affected. The current unprecedented stress and uncertainty add to the burden. Therefore, the Canadian Cancer Society has established a COVID-19 Cancer Emergency Fund to offer assistance and care for cancer patients and their families. This can be a ray of light for them to ease their anxiety during this helpless time of isolation. Please continue to support the Canadian Cancer Society by donating online at www.cancer.ca/asiangiving. Together, we will combat this disease and create a cancer-free future!

Meanwhile, the 1-min health tips were aired hourly on Fairchild Radio in Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary to educate listeners on how to equip themselves with skills to combat the epidemic.
Better Together, an inspirational song written by Fairchild Radio Toronto DJ Ting Pong Chan, shows the comradeship among those who would lend a helping hand. Performed by DJ’s and program hosts from Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary, the 2 versions of the song and MV’s are now featured on the official websites and various social media platforms of Fairchild Television and Fairchild Radio.

The Young Ambassadors Program at BC Children’s Hospital Foundation was established in 2010 with the goal of “youth inspiring youth to live a meaningful and fulfilling life.” To commemorate its 10th anniversary, the Youth Leadership Program was created to educate Generation Z on taking initiatives, caring for others, and being compassionate. Fairchild TV is honoured to be the first partner of the Youth Leadership Program.
Given their previous experience at Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant and the subsequent extraordinary life journey, 2019 Champion Jennifer Packet and Talentvision host Tingting Niu provided insights from their own paths to prep these young attendees for what to expect in the future. She taught the selected representative the tactics in conducting a successful show and special events as an MC.
First time mentors, Jennifer and Tingting were grateful for the opportunity to motivate the young generation by liberating their kind heartedness and potentials to support less fortunate people in their community. LunarFest Invites Jennifer Packet as a Special Guest
01/20/2020
Joining other government officials, MCVP 2019 Jennifer Packet was one of the guests of honor officiating the Lighting Ceremony of Coastal Lunar Lanterns and art exhibition at LunarFest, at the same time bringing greeting on behalf of the Chinese community. Of Belgian and Chinese descent, Jennifer can speak fluent Mandarin and Cantonese. The working opportunity both Hong Kong and Shanghai expanded her horizons too. Jennifer exemplifies the beauty of multiculturalism and her life experience echoes the LunarFest’s theme: Canadian of all cultural backgrounds can celebrate Chinese New Year together.
The Coastal Lunar Lanterns are made similar to Taiwan’s traditional lanterns. The incorporations of totem designs bring about acceptance to the Indigenous community. By coming together and exploring creative avenues of expression, the city is articulating our diversity to the world. The Coastal Lunar Lanterns have received the blessing from the Tourism Vancouver and Indigenous Tourism BC to participate in the 2020 Taiwan Lantern Festival. This will be the first time a North American country is participating in expressing the cultures of Chinese New Year.
Other than the outdoor exhibition, LunarFest also has an art exhibition The Castle and the Lifestyles on display. The Taiwanese designer built the paper castles based on pop-up books which give life to the different sceneries and architecture.
LunarFest elevates the essence of Chinese New Year and the Lantern Festival to an international platform which attracts more people to come and snap some shots while allowing local communities to learn more about the Chinese culture. The LunarFest Festivities will be ongoing until February 10th. To find out more information, please browse on lunarfest.org.
