Fairchild Television – Environment and Technology

Fairchild Television has always been confronted by challenges with new developments in information technology. In February of 2006, Fairchild Television and Talentvision invested $2.5 million on new equipment and technology to bring high quality programming home to Chinese Canadians. President of Fairchild Media Group Joe Chan expressed, 'Currently, our television programs, including newscasts are produced digitally. Although certain overseas programs are still airing analog signals, at Fairchild Television, we will be distributing our programs to other companies and service providers via digital technology. Higher signal quality ensures higher quality service to our viewers all across Canada.

Modern media focus highly on audience connection. Therefore, the recording studios at Fairchild Television's head office, located at Aberdeen Center in Richmond, British Columbia, are designed to be open and accessible. The newsroom's glass walls enable passerby's to look into the studio and watch the processes of the program's live production. Programs such as Leisure Talk and What's On are recorded in studios with floor to ceiling windows, showcasing a beautiful backdrop of the city landscape. When viewers see their own city as the backdrop of the show, they are able to better relate to the programs, creating a more comfortable and personal atmosphere.

Fairchild Media Group prides itself as the largest Chinese media corporation outside of Asia.
